Mira Sorvino and her best friend Champagne Joy have known each other since the age of 14.
Today, Mira is helping her life-long friend ‘stampede’ in her battle against Metastatic breast cancer.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Metastatic breast cancer is one of the most advanced forms known. It is a type of breast cancer that spreads beyond the breast to other organs in the body.
"I can’t say how proud I am of Champagne – she’s the bravest person I know," Sorvino told FOX 5’s Annie Yu.
Sorvino, Joy and dozens of others started their ‘stampede’ for awareness from the Washington Monument to the U.S. Capitol at around 8:30 a.m. The ‘Stage IV Stampede’ was also supported by METAvivor, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of advanced breast cancer.
