 New York, NY (TheTutuProject.com) June 18, 2013 – Announcement

The Tutu Project is honored to announce that The American Ballet Theatre, in conjunction with The Metropolitan Opera, invited photographer Bob Carey onto the greatest ballet stage in America to photograph “Ballerina” on the set of Swan Lake in order to help raise funds for the Carey Foundation for women with breast cancer.  The Tutu Project photograph was taken during a dress rehearsal on the afternoon of June 17th.  Bob Carey shared center stage with some of the world’s most talented Ballerinas.

We never thought that we would be asked to walk onto this grand stage.  We meet amazing people that have been inspired by our project for women with breast cancer.  But this was by far the most unexpected moment in the history of The Tutu Project”, said photographer Bob Carey after he completed this iconic photograph.

The American Ballet and The Metropolitan Opera have asked that all net proceeds from the sale of “Swan Lake” prints are donated directly to the Carey Foundation.  All of their staff’s time was kindly donated towards this photograph.
